Moderation

Report, hide, restore — plus an optional AI second opinion. A human always decides.

Moderation keeps content bearable without you having to read along around the clock. It is included in every plan.

Reporting

Any member can report a comment or post. The available reasons are spam, harassment, off topic and other, plus an optional note (up to 2,000 characters).

A report goes through four states: openunder reviewresolved or rejected. Open reports collect in the dashboard.

Hiding and restoring

Hiding is reversible: the content disappears from the public view, but it does not disappear from the world. You can make it visible again at any time.

When a comment is hidden, the replies underneath are hidden with it — otherwise responses would stand there with nothing to refer to and the thread would be unreadable.

Automatic hiding

Optionally you can set a threshold: from N open reports onwards, content disappears from the public view automatically. Two things matter here:

  • The reports stay open — the automation decides nothing, it only buys time.
  • A human closes the case afterwards: restore, or leave it hidden for good.
  • The threshold can be switched off (default: off).

AI as a second opinion

From the Pro plan, and only if the AI function is set up on the instance.

At the press of a button, a language model gives an assessment of reported content. That assessment is advisory: it hides nothing, deletes nothing and closes no report. The decision is always made by a human. If the function isn't available, the button is simply absent.

Moderating in pairs

When several people moderate, the presence display shows who is currently reviewing which case. That prevents the classic double work of two people handling the same comment at the same time.

Who may moderate

The moderator role and above. A moderator deliberately sees only the moderation views — member management, design and billing stay closed to them (see Members & roles).

What moderation does not replace

Write down your rules as a page of your own (see Pages). A short, visible rules page saves more moderation work than any tool — and makes decisions comprehensible when you do have to make them.
